The Department of Economics, Social Sciences, Applied Mathematics and Statistics (ESOMAS) expresses its warmest congratulations to professors David Card, Joshua Angrist and Guido Imbens for the award of the 2021 Nobel Prize for Economics. The methods of analysis developed by these great economists are at the center of various teaching modules of the department, both in the Bachelor of Economics and in the Master's level courses, and constitute one of the main elements of the "toolbox" for the research activities conducted daily within the department.
With prof. Card, in particular, there is ongoing collaboration, exchange and visiting periods between the University of Berkeley and the University of Turin on issues of labor market analysis, wage dynamics and business investment decisions, including the work “Rent-sharing, hold-up and wages: evidence from matched panel data”, by David Card, Francesco Devicienti and Agata Maida, published in the Review of Economic Studies, one of the top-5 journals in economics.
