Public Engagement activities are divided between personal and institutional.
The Department praises extensive dissemination activities in oral form at cultural associations (CentroScienza Association, ESOF, Circolo dei Lettori), institutions for continuing education (University of the third age), high schools (a network of high schools involved in the facilitation project of access to STEM and economic subjects for middle schoolgirls), but also conferences and round tables on topical economic and political issues (Biennale Democrazia) and it is at the forefront in the organization of events with a strong impact for the territory such as the International Festival of Economy.
To these are added dissemination activities in written form, for example through publication of articles and editorials on national media, in paper or electronic format. In particular, we point out the presence of numerous editorials signed by professors of the Department on "La Stampa", "Il Sole 24 ore", and on sites of great impact and diffusion such as "LaVoce.info".
On Friday 30th September and Saturday 1st October 2022 UNIGHT - United citizens for research, returned simultaneously throughout Europe, the event that has now become a regular appointment for anyone who wants to know the goals and challenges of research and the secrets of those who do it for a living.
The Department of Esomas participated with the event "Digital sustainability for smart cities", a laboratory during which, through a game-course based on digital social innovation processes, children and adults can propose ideas to improve climate resilience and social-environmental sustainability of their own city.
The city of Turin will host, from 1 to 4 June 2023, the second edition of the Festival Internazionale dell'Economia.
"Rethinking globalization" is the theme of the 2023 edition.
Detailed information will be published as soon as it is available on the dedicated page.
On the occasion of the Book Show 2022 the Esomas Department participated in the #UniToTalks, a program of meetings to give voice to the various cores of the University and to present projects and initiatives.
After five years, in fact, from 19th to 23rd May 2022 the University of Turin is back with its own stall at the International Book Show: the UniTo Space, a physical place to welcome visitors and to talk about the University's research and its innovative and dynamic teaching proposal, attentive to the new requests and needs of society.
The Department of Esomas was present on 20th May, at 3.30 pm, with a meeting focused on the role of women in economic culture: "Women and economic culture: facts and ideas" with Giandomenica Becchio.
Moreover, on 22nd May at 5.30 pm, Ilaria Cennamo organized, in collaboration with the Department of Languages, the meeting entitled "In the artificial translation universe: an exploration led by Johanna Monti".

The Department of Esomas together with SAA - School of Management and the Piemonte Lavoro Agency, the instrumental body of the Piedmont Region that coordinates the 31 Piedmont’s employment centres, designed, in the academic year 2021-2022, two training opportunities for 134 newly hired young people with training and work contracts.
The Master in "Services and active labor policies" and the Professional Development University Course in "Active labor policies: orientation processes and support for work placement" respond to the need of the Piemonte Lavoro Agency to accompany the preparation of the staff hired with the profiles of Labor Policy Specialist and Employment Service Technician to carry out their role within the Employment Centres.
The initiative, which is part of the plan to strengthen the Employment Centres and the recent Employability Guarantee Program (GOL), was presented during the kick-off event "Next Generation EU: what role for active labor policies and employment systems?" (in Italian) on 17th May 2022 at the SME (corso Unione Sovietica, 218 bis, 10134 Turin).

In 2021, the Department also participated as a partner, together with the Department of Mathematics and of Economics and Statistics, in the Mathematics + Economics Project = a Girl's game to encourage high school female students to enroll in mathematics and economics study paths, in order to reduce the gender gap in the aforementioned university cohorts.
As regards to the institutional activities, two main Public Engagement activities have been identified:
- video clips for the dissemination of the contents of one's research;
- guest lectures open to all where guests from outside the university world are invited to tell how the skills acquired over the years of university training are put into practice.
Both activities are available on this website and on the Department's social channels.
The ESOMAS Department organizes institutional activities aimed at disseminating the research topics of our members (ESOMAS research videoclips) and through a Guest Lectures program that sees professionals and scholars as protagonists hosted within our courses to tell in actual fact how to put in practice the skills acquired while studying in the real world.
Guest Lectures are open to everyone.
